About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Review final product welds that are free from cracks, slag or other defects to meet inspection.
Assign subordinates to utilize templates, gigs and other guides to properly modify and fabricate metal items.
Determine multiple arc welding methods to utilize in order to complete penetration and fusion of base and filler metals.
Review the effect and reaction different types of welding processes and techniques have on various types of metals.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 2 background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Welder Supervisor without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Welder Supervisor tasks. These duties or tasks include: Determining training needs and making provision for the accomplishment of training of employees. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Control all property for the unit supervised, serving as the hand receipt holder. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort-Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling, frequently handling, objects weighing up to35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment, in setting up work and equipment and in completing assignments.
Working Conditions- Work is done indoors, in areas of a shop having adequate lighting, ventilation and safety control. Involves exposure to fumes, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, heat, flying sparks, that glare of torches and heated materials. There is some discomfort when wearing protective clothing, gloves, and flash shield or eye goggles required to minimize the possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, burns, and chance of cuts when working with sharp edges on parts and components under repair. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
