You will serve as a Engineer in the Facilities Integration Branch (GT422) in the Integrated Products Division (GT42) and the Sustainment Department (GT4) at Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division of NAWCTSD ORLANDO.

Duties

You will provide engineering expertise in civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering relative to training system facility requirements. You will provide NAWCTSD's Trainer Facility requirements during pre-negotiation and facility design concept meetings for MILCON and Special Projects You will make recommendations for resolving problems that emerge and initiates/ evaluates engineering change proposals as required. You will provide lead technical review on all training system contractor reports relative to facilities and provides comments/recommendations to the appropriate Contract Specialist. You will evaluate technical packages submitted by contractors relative to facility requirements, and consistent with Proposal Evaluation Plan, determines acceptability of training system proposals.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic education requirements: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is demonstrated as knowledge of mechanical, civil, architectural or electrical engineering that demonstrate the following: Identifying and defining the nature and scope of Facility/ Training System problems and projecting assumptions and deriving criteria from data packages; 2) Monitoring training systems facilities construction to ensure compatibility between training systems and facilities; 3) Utilizing training systems acquisition cycle to develop engineering acquisition inputs and facility requirements for training systems; and 4) Surveying and developing facility requirements plans for variety of Engineering Commands and/or Public Works Centers. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
