These positions serve as scanning specialists as primary positions and are located at the Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, IL.
Duties

Major Duties:
Performs duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing, and transferring of health and administrative information
Assists in controlling all information arriving and leaving the medical center from Health Administrative Management Sections (HIMS)
Interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as VISTA applications
Responsible for entering an administrative note into CPRS in order to scan and index the medical records received from vendors
Assist in maintaining a quality control program and scanning index database
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) year of general experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Possess the successfully completed two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and general experience, as described above, to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-4 grade level. NOTE: Your experience must be documented on your resume. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, some bending, stretching, walking and lifting are required. As we still maintain a file room of paper medical records, the ability to lift 50 pounds is required. Work is performed in an office setting in Health Information Management Section within this Medical Center.
