Duties
Come join the Space Force and lead a team developing innovative and novel approaches to Radio Frequency (RF) & optical signals, microwave engineering, transmitters and receivers, and electronics that advance the state of the art for position, navigation, timing and satellite communication science and technology. Conduct and lead multiple research, development, testing and evaluation activities associated with satellite laser/RF navigation and communication as risk-reduction for space-flight experiments and technology demonstrations. Conduct or lead research in the fields of communication networking, RF/optical signal propagation, RF/optical transmitter/receiver design and signal processing. Lead development of innovative technologies and algorithms to transmit/receive electromagnetic signals to improve system performance and resilience in benign and challenged environments. Conduct or lead testing and evaluation of communications and navigation technologies in laboratory and field environments as part of a research team composed of contractors, civilians, military, and students. Conduct or lead advance technology demonstrations and space flight experiments to mature technology and facilitate rapid transition to the warfighter.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/ SCI security clearance.
- This position is eligible for situational telework (2-4 days per pay period).
- PCS and incentives are not authorized.
Qualifications
Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR):
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
