The Primary Purpose of the Position is the Service Point-of-Contact and resident first line IT support, provides information, recommendations and guidance to a vast array of staff and leadership, to include senior executive management.
The Organizational location of the position is: Medical Administration Service, VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS).
Duties
Duties Include but not limited to:
Data Collection and Analysis
Plans and conducts comprehensive analytical studies of the Medical Administration Service (MAS) administrative processes and procedures to measure effectiveness and efficiency.
Generates and reviews a variety of information from manual and automated databases. Verifies the relevancy, adequacy, accuracy, and completeness of the information.
Technical Computer Support
Attends required meetings and works closely with Information Technology Service (IT) and the Program Applications Specialist
Coordinates requests for access for all of the MAS employees, as well as scheduling access requests for all services;
Develops training plans and materials; troubleshoots hardware and software errors, computer related issues and problems for MAS employees' needs
Requests new equipment (computers, printers, telephones), equipment moves, new lines, etc. utilizing the automated Equipment Tracking Request system in VISTA.
Training and Program Support
Responsible for assisting the Program Application Specialist in developing training programs.
Primary responsibility for providing MAS ADPAC hardware and software assistance as well as training to all campuses of the VA North Texas Health Care System. Incumbent will serve as a TMS Administrator for MAS.
Security and Compliance
In conjunction with the Program Application Specialist, the incumbent aids the Information Security Office (ISO) in investigation of suspected security breaches within MAS.
Assigns appropriate menus and security keys to users in all services of MAS packages.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: serves as liaison between staff and Office of Information Technology for computer issues; coordinates scheduling access requests for organization; manages clinical Vista packages; process equipment requests; monitor complex file structures, software, and functionalities.
