Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing investigative services relating to fraud legal matters of the United States Attorney's Office, Central District of California. Typical work assignments will include: · Identifying, locating, and valuating assets · Researching and examining public records · Routinely performing research in investigations · Preparing investigation reports and other related documents · Conducting interviews and meetings in conjunction with investigations · Developing and implementing investigative strategies · Reviewing, interpreting, compiling, and handling investigative documents · Developing investigative policies, techniques, and procedures Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

• You must be a United States Citizen or National.
• Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
• You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.

Qualifications

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Resume must include specific example(s) of each of the below-referenced specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined performing the following types of duties: conducting routine investigations and or financial examinations as the lead or sole investigator or analyst, or assisting with complex investigations or as an investigator or analyst; knowledge of relevant state, local and or federal laws or regulations; conducting interviews of witnesses; creating reports on the progress of investigations for use by attorneys and identifying significant findings and conclusions, recommendations for additional investigative actions, and candid assessments of strengths and weaknesses of witnesses, documentary evidence, or other aspects of cases. Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree (such as LL.M.); OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice) and in an accredited college or university. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. GS-12: To be qualified at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in Federal service as defined below. Resumes must include specific example(s) of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined performing the following types of duties: developing intelligence; performing quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts; reporting the results of investigations to attorneys, auditors, and management; resolving complex investigative problems affecting compliance with laws or regulations; developing investigative work plans; conducting interviews of witnesses, briefings with management before and after an interview, preparing written interview reports, conducting complex investigations and valuations of assets.
