As a Pipefitter for Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) Medical Center, the incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills of the trade in accomplishing the duties of a Pipefitter.

Duties

Duties Performs maintenance, repairs and alterations of exterior and interior steam and condensate return line that require the service of an experienced steamfitter Performs pipefitting duties on patient wards, tunnels, and administrative areas Performs a variety of tasks on an as needed basis involving the installation, modification and repairs to new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment Plans and lays out assembly of pipe sections and systems including related equipment, fixtures and devices for new installation, alteration and repairs from shop drawings, sketches, building plans, blueprints and on site inspections Must be knowledgeable in all State and National Codes, including VA guides and manuals attributed to the positions Is responsible for inspections, maintenance, repair and installation of all pipes Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 0730-1600 Position Description Title/PD#: Pipefitter/PD08440A Physical Requirements: The incumbent may be required to bend, reach and hold awkward positions for prolonged period. Frequently works from ladders, platforms, high places and cramped spaces. Considerable climbing, walking and stooping is also required. frequently lifts and moves objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and carries objects over 50 pounds either alone or with others. A physical examination will be required prior to appointment.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
