This National Guard position is for a METEOROLOGICAL TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D1817000 and is part of the 174TH ATKW, National Guard.
This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.
Duties
As a Meteorological Technician, GS-1341-09, you will provide meteorological services and weather observations and forecasts in support of world-wide Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to ensure mission effectiveness, resource protection, and flight safety. Performs duties necessary to accomplish Weather Flight Mission Execution Forecasts (MEF) including the collecting, analyzing, and forecasting of atmospheric and space environmental information and forecasts and the tailoring and communication of weather data that impacts all parts of the mission to include takeoff, route, target and landing.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted Only
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training involving performing meteorological watch; and communicating effectively orally and in writing. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in applying principles and procedures of various meteorological models and forecasting techniques. Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating numerous meteorological and oceanographic charts, planning, organizing and coordinating work.
