About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security, Airfield Division on Wright Army Air Field, Georgia.
Duties
Utilize military flight data telecommunications system to receive and transmit flight information between worldwide U.S. military base operations, Federal Aviation Administration, Flight Service Station, and International Civil Aviation Organization.
Monitor radio navigational aids, maintains flight plan information for all aircraft movement, consisting of inbound, outbound, and local flights.
Coordinate and maintain liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters.
Provide direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews, during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities.
Process flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line Driver's License per AR 95-2.
- This position has been identified as being mission essential required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Senior Leadership.
- The incumbent may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty. Must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
- This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). A pre-employment and random drug testing is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which 1) responding to aircraft emergencies, accidents, and incidents on the airfield; 2) operating various communications devices such as radios, desktop computers, and intercoms to communicate with pilots in flight to obtain and receive flight information on aircraft;3) providing en-route and post flight information for inbound aircraft 4) process flight plans by conducting research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Transportation Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
