Duties
Join the Space Force and work innovative RF physics for the space environment! Lead an innovative and dynamic team at the forefront of advancing our understanding of space weather and scintillation phenomena. Leverage expertise in RF signals to conduct basic and applied research investigations spanning the entire spectrum of Radio Frequency (RF) systems development and comprehensive testing related to signal propagation and scintillation. Skillfully design and execute experiments aimed at characterizing dynamics of the ionosphere and the propagation behavior of RF signals. Analyze data from tests to obtain results and make recommendations for shaping DoD architect. Direct research and investigations on ionospheric radio science and engineering, focusing on global ionospheric structures and dynamics. Utilize RF ionospheric sounding and remote sensing techniques, incorporating data from optics, radar, and satellites. Guide international collaborative studies on ionospheric phenomena. Craft innovate tools to measure and specify the ionosphere and potential impacts to DoD systems.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/ SCI security clearance.
- This position is eligible for situational telework (2-4 days per pay period).
- PCS and incentives are not authorized.
Qualifications
A. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
or
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
