The position is responsible for a supportive role performing a variety of duties in the care, preparation for and, assistance performing imaging exams in multiple modalities including Interventional Radiology (IR), Neuro-radiology (NR), computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US), and Magnetic Resolution Imaging MRI).
Duties
Performs supportive duties assigned to complete various imaging exams, including but not limited to myelograms, arthrograms, cine motion film studies, kidney, ureter, and bladder studies, ultrasound exams, CT scans, and MRI scans without technical assistance.
Assess patients as well as monitoring vital signs.
Work closely with all medical personal to include but not limited to Dr's, RN's, DRT's, Management.
Setting up the Imaging room and assuring that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment/supplies are present and laid out.
Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representative, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy.
Follow applicable regulations and instruction regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the computer access agreement that the employee signs.
Understands the facility disaster plan and coordinates section disaster drills.
Must positively interact with staff and collaboratively prepare for and assist in exams in the midst of changing priorities and conditions.
Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm / Monday - Friday 3:30p to Midnight - May be required to work weekends and holidays. (Subject to change based on the needs of the Agency)

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but also requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying of light items; the work may require heavy lifting of equipment or patients. The incumbent will also be required to wearing lead apron while assisting with imaging procedures.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge and applications of placements of IV's; Knowledge of basic nursing care duties, skills in performing CPR; Ability to assess patient as well as monitoring vital signs, Knowledge of sterile techniques / maintaining sterile field, and preparing or obtaining information, that will need to be documented for current or future patient care. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR
Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-06 level. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed one half year of graduate education (9 semester hours or equivalent) with a major that included courses directly related to the work of this position. Such graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-06 level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond have an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate-level education and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total qualification requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained at an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. NOTE: Your experience must be documented in your resume and transcripts are required.
To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-06. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
