About the Position: As a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation) in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), you will provide administrative support to the Reception-Administration Control Desk (RACD), Record Maintenance & Accountability, and Enlistment Processing to include fingerprinting of applicants. The duty location is in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Duties
Fingerprint applicants user applicant software system.
Operate a computer and keyboard to record data for entrants to all branches of the Armed Service
Assist with preparation and amendment of transportation orders and delayed program orders for all branches of the Armed Services.
Provide customer service to visitors and applicants in and out of the MEPS.
Manage applicant data process forms for entry into the military service.
Assist with preparation and amendment of transportation orders and delayed program orders for all branches of the Armed Services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- This position may require work on an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (Work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- This position will routinely require unscheduled overtime work to accommodate fluctuation in workload based on the daily mission requirements
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% - 10 % of the time.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes using a personal computer or computer terminal for word processing and/or database management; questioning applicants to obtain and/or verify data; AND experience with entering information into an automated system.
OR
Education: successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: To qualify based on partial experience and partial education you must have specialized experience but less than one year; and have more than two (2) years but less than four (4) years of education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then take your total semester hours (undergraduate/graduate) and subtract 60, then divide the sum by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.(NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-5).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
