About the Position: Serves as the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Public Affairs Specialist for a Transportation Brigade and its subordinate activities. Develops annual Public Affairs, Community Relations and marketing Plans for the Brigade and subordinate units. Through media releases, articles, speeches and community relations activities, assures public recognition and understanding of the Command's functional programs.

Duties

Develop, implement, and manage special programs which have a high level of visibility and require continuing liaison with high level public officials, military and civilian leaders, media representatives, command directors and key personnel. Promote awareness of policies, plans, operations, and new developments which are of interest and value in carrying out command functions. Research and write complex articles for the Transportation Brigade Commander/Brigade that are accurate, current and require extensive research and tailoring to ensure they are appropriate for the audiences, occasions, and purposes. Write scripts, scenarios, and other narrative material for exhibits which accurately and effectively portray command activities and accomplishments. Develop and provide staff direction and advises on all marketing strategies designed to promote and maintain awareness of the Brigade’s core competencies, products and services among DOD customers, transportation industry and other audiences. Write public involvement plans for informing and involving the transportation industry publications on issues of national defense significance. Coordinate all congressional and other legislative inquiries with appropriate staff sections for timely response. Provide protocol advice and assistance for all command ceremonies, events, conferences, and programs. Serve as principal staff advisor for the development and maintenance of Brigade social media platforms. Collect and submit historical materials to HQ SDDC in order to prepare an Annual Historical Review. Maintain historical files for the Brigade.

OR Possess the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
