About the Position: This Accounting Technician position is located with the 81st Medical Group, located at Keesler Air Force Base with the Resource Management Division. Work will be completed in an office setting with a single desk. 81 MDG employees are on a Compressed Work Schedule (CWS) per union agreement for all bargaining employees. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

Duties

Senior lead technician who receives, reviews, and classifies complex transaction requiring reconstruction. Analyzes and adjust accounting records and provides guidance in establishing account structure and configuration. Supports accounting and budget with Medical Affirmation Claims, Third Party Collections, Medical Services Account, NOAA, USPHS, Disinterested Party Audits and Foreign Military billing for medical care. Validates accounting classifications for accuracy on all collection reimbursements in order to prevent violation of statutes as applies to Comptroller fiduciary responsibility. Research source documents, etc., to create and submit reimbursement claims for injury compensation and civilian emergencies incidents. Monitors year-end closing to ensure proper allocation of reimbursement funds. Attends briefings, meetings, and/or working groups as a representative for the billing and collection reimbursement office.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing the status of reimbursement accounts and other accounting records within the automated systems such as (but not limited to): ABACUS, OTCNET, CRIS, CIR.; Implementing changes in billing and collection procedures as directed by Higher Headquarters, Public Law, the Code of Federal Regulations, and other agencies/requirements as appropriate; Providing customer service to both internal and external customers; and providing assistance and training to lower graded technicians. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
