About the Position: This position is located in El Paso, TX.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
A DoD Biomedical Maintenance Certification or the Civilian Educational Equivalent is HIGHLY preferred for this position.
Duties
Evaluate and install sophisticated/complex medical equipment and/or systems to include standalone equipment and/or components that contain integrated circuitry and integrated/ networked systems and related electronics.
Operate a wide variety of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to include invasive and non-invasive.
Serve as an adviser for special projects involving the installation, service and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems.
Communicate with clinical staff (physicians, nurses, technicians, etc.) to provide assistance and in-service training, setup, calibration, operation, and application of patient care equipment.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance.
Implement Patient Care Equipment (PCE) modifications to include checking product modifications with guidance from appropriate regulatory agencies.
Perform software diagnosis to determine failure between software and hardware and correct system software or application program malfunction.
Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PM) inspections of medical PCE to include visual inspections, operational checks, electrical safety inspections, calibration, and verification performance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes installing, maintaining, and/or repairing medical equipment and/or systems; operating test, measurement, and/or diagnostic equipment to test and/or calibrate medical equipment and/or systems; and conducting preventative maintenance checks on medical equipment and/or systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
