As a Photographer in the Technical Information and Management Services (TIMS) Branch, you will be responsible for performing photographic assignments in support of Goddard's mission. These photographic assignments include: coverage of special events, award ceremonies, public affairs activities, publications, websites, press conferences or VIP visits; studio, laboratory, or clean room photography; building documentation of existing and new facilities; and portraiture photographs.
Duties
Consult with senior management, engineers, scientists, project managers, administrative personnel, and photographic professionals to manage, plan, and assess requirements for specialized photography projects and simple and complex events.
Perform photographic assignments using digital cameras, photographic equipment, and professional lighting techniques to achieve compelling images of Center activities.
Manage multiple photo assignments, coordinate on-location shoots, and manage equipment assets. Compose and produce high-resolution images. Utilize photo-editing software, i.e., Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, for image processing and metadata entry.
Collect, annotate, and submit official photo images of historical significance to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) as required by law.
Perform database cataloging; responsible for managing, organizing, uploading, preserving, and distributing assets from a central repository for the Center in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
Manage the internal content by logging images, maintain file folder structures and meta-data tagging of content attributes. Deliver timely social media images and other imagery to internal and external customers.
Keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of photography. Identify and recommend new technology and techniques, the replacement of existing equipment, and enhancements for process improvements.
Communicate with people outside of the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, the government, and other external sources.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
Applying principles, practices, and techniques of photography image processing and image management to compose, produce, and catalogue photographic images;
Utilizing specialized photographic equipment, techniques, and processes to execute photography assignments requiring high degrees of detail, critical timing, and critical focus;
Operating professional digital cameras, associated camera equipment, and processing software to produce high-quality images.
Videography skills are preferred but not required.
