This position is located at Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), which consist of three inpatient facilities and seven outpatient clinics. The incumbent will function as a Distribution Technician in the Environment Management Service (EMS). Must have general knowledge of General Inventory Package (GIP) and barcoding.

Duties

The incumbent distributes items according to established requirements special request as requisitioned using the GIP. The incumbent is required to wear a pager and a VQCERA to expedite the pickup and delivery of sanitation and textile supplies needed throughout the facilities. The incumbent will deliver items in accordance with instructions from the end users. The incumbent insures the timely and accurate delivery and ensures the supplies delivered or sterile and operational condition obtain signature and receipts to relinquish control and accountability for items if required. The incumbent will fill request for items based on a daily schedule of needs on individual requisitions. The incumbent performs daily inventory of wards or units supply area and replenishes appropriate stock levels consult with customers and items and short supply or out of stock, recommend possible substitutions. The incumbent will complete cycle counts and or barcode inventory stock level reviews and completes needed adjustments on a weekly basis or more often if needed to ensure accuracy of inventory availabilities and items for end users. The incumbent will check expirations dates on stock items and remove expired ones. The incumbent maintains records on stock levels and recommends revisions in stock levels as needed. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/28/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. The incumbent will inform management of changes in stock levels that are required as needed or on a periodic basis to meet the needs of the customer. The incumbent insures the timely and accurate delivery and ensures the supplies delivered or sterile and operational condition obtain signature and receipts to relinquish control and accountability for items if required.: OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school . OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond level positions only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.. Physical Requirements: Lifts or moves boxes between 25lbs - 50lbs. Stands/walks for several hours while cleaning and moving furniture. Pushes, pulls, lifts, carries or moves equipment around for several hours at a time. Uses hand trucks, pallet jacks, and automated systems.
