This position is assigned to the Food and Beverage Division (MWR) Key West. The purpose of this position is to support the Duty Manager and/or Assistant Hospitality Director of the facility. In addition to regularly occurring bartending duties, this position leads a minimum of three bartenders and/or bar attendants. The minimum age for employment in this position is 21.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Skill to perform duties with several steps and use independent judgment in the performance of non-sequential tasks. Concentration is required to manage competing tasks, manage multiple orders/tables, and to process the constant flow of information and requests with competing and/or changing priorities. In depth understanding of common sanitation procedures and food handling to prevent contamination. Basic knowledge of food preparation and a comprehensive knowledge of all menus used in the facility.
Knowledge gained through pertinent job experience enabling the incumbent to be highly skilled at serving beverages including specialty drinks, assist with food service set-up/breakdown, and demonstrate outstanding customer service skills. Must possess two years of work related experience in bar operation with a minimum of one year documented leader or supervisory experience as a full-service bartender, measuring, mixing and serving a wide variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages in a full range bar.
Knowledge, skill, and ability to lead and train bartenders and bar attendants in proper drink making techniques, customer service, and food handling procedures.
Ability to build and sustain a positive rapport with customers, co-workers, and management. Must be able to give and receive feedback regarding performance with tact and professionalism.
Ability and willingness to follow directions and carry out tasks with little to no supervision.
Demonstrate good decision making skills when presented with customer service issues, including and managing conflicting tasks or information.
Must be able to understand, apply, and enforce existing regulations regarding patron use of the activity and/or facility.
Must have the ability to deal effectively with various members of the public, including de-escalating negative or highly charged interactions with upset, stressed, and/or intoxicated customers.
Must be able to react spontaneously and to make sound decisions often in loud, constricted and heavily trafficked areas with continuous disruptions and distractions.
Ability to take orders and answer questions from customers, over the phone and in person.
Ability to handle cash, perform arithmetic and confidentially process credit card information.
Ability to read and write standard American English is required.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using standard American English is required.
V. PHYSICAL EFFORTS
Work involves moderate to heavy physical effort such as frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds, constantly standing and walking, and occasionally lifting up to 45 pounds. Frequent standing, bending, and lifting is required. Often exerts physical effort in controlling and carrying equipment via pushing and pulling.
VI. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work areas are often noisy and congested. Workers are exposed to minor cuts, bruises, and burns. There is danger of tripping or slipping on wet floors. Workers are exposed to a variety of weather elements when working at outdoor venues/events. Workers can be exposed to loud music for several hours at a time.
VII. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work varied work schedules to include evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts. Subject to recall. Must successfully complete food handlers, cash handling, and CARES training on an annual basis. Must pass a NACI background check as required by installation security.
