This position is located within the Nutrition Services Department of the Clinical Services section at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center, Sisseton, SD. While the incumbent may be asked to travel to locations around the reservation, the primary worksite will be at the Health Center. The position will serve as the Director of the Nutrition Services Department, which plans and coordinates all care of the Nutrition Services, providing oversight, direction and coordination.
Duties
Serves as the consultant on nutrition care to the Health Center and maintains standards of food production and services, sanitation, and safety.
Provides nutritional care for patients in the outpatient setting and collaborates with local hospital to provide discharge counseling. Works with adults and children of all ages in the nutritional treatment of various diagnoses (i.e., renal disease, hypertension, cancer, prediabetes, diabetes and diabetic complications, infections, accidents, trauma, and alcohol related disorders).
Ensures that department expenditures are within allocated budget and that department supplies. equipment. etc., are ordered and purchased.
Coordinates with clinic staff to maintain an up-to-date electronic diabetes registry in order to plan and track patient care and outcomes. Performs
quarterly and annual diabetes audits and system of care reviews to determine standards of compliance and positive outcomes for patients with diabetes.
Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating a comprehensive Nutrition and Dietetics Program including budget, menu planning, purchasing specifications, food production and service, infection control, safety and sanitation, space utilization, and equipment. Provide nutritional management of a variety of chronic medical problems, management of food service functions, staff development, ambulatory care and community nutrition programs. AND
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
Possess and maintain current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
