About the Position: Provides administrative and clerical support to the Lockmaster and assigned staff in the areas of purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data processing, reporting, and other project office operations.
Duties
Performs general office management activities, and prepares and produces other correspondence, forms, and reports based on rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions.
Devises and maintains office files in accordance with appropriate filing system procedures.
Serves as local expert in CEFMS, providing instructions, procedural and substantive guidance to the on-site staff that record and/or retrieve data from CEFMS.
Assists with preparation and maintenance of job descriptions, performance appraisals, awards nominations, and a variety of personnel forms.
Assists the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) in administering the maintenance service contracts, prepares work orders and modifications.
Receives and relays navigational data via radio, telephone and computer system linked to other river installations, and offices regarding precipitation river stages, gage readings and other appropriate data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be required to possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license based on site-specific, job-related requirements.
- May be required to have an American Red Cross Standard First Aid card, CPR, and/or AED in good standing and/or wear a prescribed uniform based on site specific requirements.
- Mission Essential. This position is not subject to administrative dismissal in emergencies based on inclement weather conditions, or other emergency situations, as appropriate.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements education/experience described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-05 Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) experience following administrative regulations and procedures in at least one of the following areas: contracts, procurement, supply, inventory, personnel, time-keeping, travel, and/or records management; OR 2) experience preparing correspondence, forms, or reports based on rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions; OR 3) experience using standard office equipment such as, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, etc.
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) experience reviewing and following a variety of administrative regulations and procedures in at least one of the following areas: contracts, procurement, supply, inventory, personnel, time-keeping, travel, and/or records management; AND 2) experience preparing and producing correspondence, forms, and reports based on rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions; AND 3) experience using a wide variety of standard office equipment to include but not limited to, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, etc.
