You will serve as a Packer in the Department of Energy (DOE) Material Office, Publication Division (Code N0091) of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

You will perform packing of classified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Technical Manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS). You will determine the type of internal and external marking, packaging and postage (classified or registered mail) required based on material classification in accordance with all applicable security regulations. You will print and adhere address label to each package and determines the appropriate shipping method and applies the appropriate postal label to the carton or electronic media shipping container. You will sort and pack material and electronic media by customer for consolidated shipment. You will perform data entry in the Enterprise Business System to enter shipment tracking information for classified technical manual and electronic media shipments to ensure visibility and accountability of shipments until received by the customer. You will identify and report discrepancies to the supervisor and assist in fixing the discrepancies. You will operate material handling equipment to move material in and out of storage, stage material for shipment or vendor field service, and load and unload trucks.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform the full range of Packer tasks including: ensuring shipments related to classified reactor plant technical manual publications comply with international, federal, state and local regulations for internal and external marking, labeling, and packaging; assisting with selecting the required mode of shipment based on material classification; prioritizing material for packing and shipment by the customer's required delivery date and consolidating the shipments by customer; constructing standard and specialized prefabricated cartons, boxes, cushioning materials, high security packing tape, seals, stretch wrap, and steel bands as required to prevent loss or damage of material in shipment; constructing, adapting and modifying shipping and storage containers by fitting containers around parts, equipment including items of unusual size and shape; operating forklifts and material handling equipment; utilizing computer and bar code technology and equipment to enter tracking information for visibility and accountability of classified shipments. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
