You will serve as a ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC LEADER in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will serve as a working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. You will apply troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques and equipment to identify source(s) of problems. Your will interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturer manuals and other materials. You will repair and replace a variety of system parts and components. You will coordinate work with other trades personnel to effect multi-discipline repairs. You will provide technical advice concerning system and equipment capabilities and limitations. You will provide support to other systems with electrical and electronic interface and components such as pneumatic and mechanical systems.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, installation, modification and calibration of digital computer systems, electronic test and measurement equipment, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery and equipment. Using various types of precision instruments, diagnostic instruments and equipment. Performing electronic component repairs involving Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and removing and reinstalling circuit board components or similar. Training personnel in the use of shop machinery and tools, including their safety and calibration requirements. Recognizing possible safety hazards and take steps to eliminate or control hazards. Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, models of parts, or other specifications.
