The incumbent applies experience and detailed technical knowledge in planning, managing, and completing assignments in support of the NAS.

Duties

Technical Competence: Incumbent possesses comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system, of the relationship of the parts to the whole, and of the capabilities within the NAS to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated air traffic safety issues. Maintains technical competency on legacy systems, and obtains the skills to install, integrate, maintain and restore new technologically advanced systems without supervision.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • All or none of the applicants may be interviewed.
  • A Signed Supervisory Endorsement is required for promotion; not for ingrade or downgrades.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidate must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that demonstrates an exclusive of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level (Pay Band F/Level I or equivalent), meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES identified below.In addition to your resume, in the space provided under each Demonstrated Ability, you MUST provide a NARRATIVE justification on how you meet the this ability. Eligible candidates may be ranked based on demonstrated abilities.For assistance in responding to each of the Demonstrated Abilities "things to consider"/instructions have been provided for each of the demonstrated abilities at: https://employees.faa.gov/org/staffoffices/ahr/program_policies/policy_guidance/hr_policies/media/AppendixVPromotionCriteria.pdfThe best qualified ATSS candidates should possess but not required to have an expert knowledge, skills or abilities to perform the operation associated with the installation, maintenance, modification, repair, troubleshooting, flight check and certification of Communication systems and services such as Motorola, ITT, General Dynamics radios, Radio Link Communications Repeater, Low Density Radio Communications Link Repeater, Digital Audio Legal Recorder, Interim Voice Switch Replacement, Remote Monitoring and Logging System, Bandwidth Manager, Digital Voice Recorder System, Interim Voice Switch Replacement and Data Multiplexers. In addition, this position maintains electrical/mechanical equipment/systems necessary to ensure reliability of facilities on and off airports within the network of the NAS.
