Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Trade Transformation Office, Client Services Division located in. Duties

As a Client Representative you will be advising trade clients on data transmission errors and automated system problems. This position starts at a salary of $98,496.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $128,043.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $128,043.00 (GS-13 Step 10). Some of the key duties of the Client Representative include: Advising trade clients on data transmission errors and automated system problems, resolving complex or unusual systems issues and acting as a liaison with system programmers; Onboarding new trade clients by evaluating their software testing processes and determining their readiness for operational filing; Issuing technical bulletins via the internet to inform trade system users of problems and instructing them in taking necessary actions; Supporting new trade systems applications related to cargo processing, including manifest, cargo release, entry summary, post summary processing, foreign trade zone, etc; Representing CBP at industry conferences, local port association meetings, and other public forums on international trade and customs automated systems and develops and presents updates on new existing trade systems functionality to a variety of stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Monitoring system performance and reliability; identifying actual and potential system issues and work to resolve them. Developing, implementing, and support new trade systems applications related to functional areas, such as importer security filing, manifest, cargo release, entry summary, foreign trade zone, etc. Coordinating functional requirements, software testing, and deployment with various CBP offices, Partner Government Agencies (PGA) and trade users. Providing technical leadership and direction on major software deployments to field personnel, identifying procedural problems, and recommending solutions or temporary workarounds in coordination with policy, legal and operational offices. Leading outreach efforts to educate clients on and increase their adoption of new CBP system functionality, including educating them about system changes and the impact to industry practices, as well as CBP business policies, procedures; build relationships with new industry clients and manage long-standing relationships with existing clients.
