This position is in the Security Guard unit within the Division of Administrative Services at the Crownpoint Service Unit. The position provides security services for the facility which includes Outpatient, Emergency, Urgent Care, Women's Health Clinic, Pediatrics, Adult Medical Services: Mental Health and Social Services: Optometry and Dental Services; Physical Therapy; and Community Health Nursing. This facility also includes outlying health clinics.
Duties
Assigns work to employees and explains work requirements, methods and procedures as needed. Insures timely performance of a satisfactory quantity and quality of work. Reviews work product of employees and accepts, amends or rejects work.
Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Provides on the job training to team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects, and provide or arrange for specific administrative or technical training necessary for accomplishment of individual and team tasks.
Keeps employees informed of procedures, policies, directives, etc., and informs employees available services, latest program developments and/or changes and employee activities.
Participates and collaborates with the supervisor in the performance evaluation of team members.
Reports to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems.
Protects property and equipment against trespass theft fire, and accidental or willful damage and destruction.
Performs random spot checks for compliance with key control, supply, property and vehicle security regulations and directives. Complete on the spot corrections if possible. Notifies the supervisor of discrepancies and chronic problems.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. For Security Guard positions in a hospital setting, experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying. Experience in distributing and balancing work among Security Guards or related professions and assuring timely accomplishment of work. Experience in monitoring the status or work progress and make any required adjustments for Security Guards or related professions. Experience in patrolling buildings and grounds to protect property, patients, visitors, and employees from danger of accidents, fires, theft, or intrusion. Experience in ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, individuals and groups of people at all times. Experience in assisting with disturbed and belligerent patients and/or visitors, assessing situations, and restraining when necessary as needed per Facility Restraint Policies.
Investigation of Fitness: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. Medical Requirements: The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature. Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
