You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) in the Military Personnel Services Branch of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will be responsible for composing original replies to Congressional and Special Interest correspondence and to unsolicited inquiries from the general public concerning casualty related matters.
You will serve as the Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) claims manager for the Marine Corps.
You will be responsible for reviewing and editing proposed changes to casualty related Marine Corps manuals and directives.
You will be responsible for screening and processing Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall requests and Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall of Remembrance requests.
You will analyze personnel records and determine benefits/entitlements as well as the eligible beneficiaries for Marines who die within 120 days of separation from service.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in military human resources management providing policies and procedures on military benefits and entitlements concerning casualties and deceased military personnel.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
OR Education: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M, if related.
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours), may be used to combine education and experience.
