This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position will work on military vehicles, generators, and components for the US Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), Fleet Management Expansion (FMX), Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Duties

Perform field level maintenance, servicing, and repair on vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, generators, and trailers. Perform routine maintenance on wheeled vehicles in accordance to established procedures. Perform routine service requirements for equipment. Utilize automated system to testing equipment. Use diagnostic codes to identify defects for wheeled vehicles. Certify road test results for vehicle worthiness.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays as for emergency maintenance operations.
  • Position is required to work Shift Work.
  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items weighing about 50 pounds
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass pre-employment medical examination.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain valid driver's license to operate government/military equipment. Required to operate government/military equipment for the purpose of recovery, troubleshooting, and road testing.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Automotive Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. - I have the ability to perform the common Automotive Worker tasks including servicing, repairing, and performing automotive maintenance on wheeled vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, generators, and trailers. I can document needed service and repair; use test equipment such as gauges, compression tester, or multi-meters to diagnose source of defects and type of repair; identify repair parts needed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Requirements: include making repairs while the vehicle is overhead and where parts worked on are in hard to reach places. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items weighing about 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside a well-lighted and heated area which is drafty, noisy and where fumes from vehicles are usually present. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods of time and at times must crawl under vehicles and make repairs while on hard/damp surfaces. Exposed to dirt, dust, and grease; vehicle fluids may cause burns; and the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, strains, mashed fingers and scalding. Wears and/or uses protective devices as deemed necessary by management. Also performs duties outside in all kinds of weather.
