Duties
Examines, identifies and verifies a variety of materials, complete equipment items, technical components, parts, and commodities.
Receives, checks, verifies, sorts and classifies materials and equipment by stock number, size, classification and condition.
Uses technical manuals to identify and verify materials.
Determines the correct condition code, classification, repairability or non-repairability of items and estimates economic feasibility or cost of repair.
Initiates records to document receiving and processing discrepancies and material defects found during phases of examination.
Operates forklifts with a capacity of lifting loads weighing up to 15,000 lbs. and related materials handling equipment to deliver, relocate, up-load, off-load, and move materials and equipment.

- This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill future vacancies for various shifts located anywhere within DLA Distribution Red River, Texas.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.

- Licenses/Certifications: Work requires operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and aisle mobile hybrid crane. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid MHE license and must maintain a body weight not in excess of 300 pounds.
Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as moves stock to appropriate locations and verifies materials received against shipping documentation.

Physical Effort:
Stands on hard surfaces maintaining balances for extended periods of time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. May carry and/or pack items that weigh up to 70 pounds. Heavier items are maneuvered with materials handling equipment or with assistance from co-workers. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when operating materials handling equipment.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a warehouse environment. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents and to high noise levels in mechanized work area. Mechanized roller conveyors are often present and is a normal part of material routing and distribution. Safety and Health requirements: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, as directed by the supervisor. Types of protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: eye, respiratory, and foot protection, harnesses, protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, etc.). Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audiometric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around machinery or equipment. Conditions may be uncomfortable when operating the aisle hybrid mobile crane near the ceiling. May be exposed to dusty, dirty, or greasy conditions. Individual is regularly exposed to the possibility of electrical shock (AC or DC). Individual is subject to injury from sudden cabin drops of up to 20 feet while operating the aisle hybrid mobile crane. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position.
