Duties
This position functions as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic within the Facilities Management Division at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.
Major Duties:
Performs inspections, maintenance, and repair of the entire fan coil/convector unit. This includes cleaning the interior/exterior of the unit, cleaning/replacing filter, cleaning the blower unit, replacing the fan blades as needed, oiling the motor or replacing the motor as needed, cleans condensate pans and ensures proper drainage. Replace leaking or inoperable heating/cooling control valves and switches as needed.
Uses testing techniques, locates worn and broken parts, and performs minor, non-complex repairs to parts, electric power connectors, and wiring within casing, within units such as: water dispensers, commissary coolers and freezers, kitchen and galley equipment, and small structures or areas that use unit comfort coolers, window units and other similar equipment.
May assist a journeyman Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic and a Refrigeration Plant Operator.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM and may be require to be present to provide off-hours support for utility outages, maintenance and project support, etc.
NOTE: The incumbent must comply with any EPA certifications and/or requirements and be a certified technician. A minimum of Type I EPA certification is required. DOCUMENTATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN INELIGIBLE RATING.
The incumbent must comply with any EPA certifications and/or requirements. The regulations require technicians to observe practices that minimize release of refrigerant to the environment and to be certified as knowledgeable of these requirements; moreover, to ensure that the individuals handling refrigerant are certified technicians.
