The position is at the full performance level and located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) VA Western Colorado Health Care System (WCHCS) within Engineering Service. The In-House Projects Team Lead is a critical member of the Maintenance & Operations unit and serves as a work lead for In-House Projects Team consisting of a Maintenance Mechanic, Pipefitter, heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) equipment mechanic, Electrician, and Painter

Duties

Duties to include but not limited to: Performs comprehensive oversight of operations, renovations, and repair, to include installation and modification on a wide variety of engineering systems and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and failures and determines the extent of repairs, parts needed, required materials for the repair. Schedules work, prepares budgets, identifies staffing needs, and recommends solutions for complex problems Updating of the Engineering Service AEMS/MERS systems or any future work order tracking systems that may be in use. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience in leading 5 or more journeyman level tradesman in a hospital setting and/or experience in performing maintenance work in a hospital setting. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm & One position is Monday - Friday 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic Lead/PD12360-O and PD13904-O Physical Requirements: The incumbent's work requires considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. When at a job site, strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required. Some areas of oversight may use manual or portable power tools for extended periods, in uncomfortable positions. Onsite work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops. Workers may lift and move materials up to forty (40) pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Working Conditions: Some of the work is performed by the incumbent in shop areas where the worker is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, pollutants in the air, chemical fumes, and hazards associated with services within the scope of the position and the related power equipment. When working at job sites, workers may be exposed to adverse weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. They are subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. Incumbents may work in confined areas, such as crawl spaces and attics, which may be dusty and ditty. Employees must use the appropriate protective devices such as ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, etc.
