Duties

This position is located under the Office of Professional Responsibility & Security Operations, Security & Emergency Programs Division, Physical Security Programs Branch in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. GS-9 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Assisting in maintaining a physical security program for the protection of facilities, property, and equipment; and Providing procedural information for a physical security program; and Issuing IDs and maintaining current and complete records; and Monitoring intrusion detection systems and access control devices and scheduling required maintenance. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) GS-11 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Assisting in coordinating a physical security program (i.e., network card access readers, intrusion detection systems, closed circuit video) for protecting employees and property; and Providing technical advice and procedural information and recommending modification or development of physical security policies, procedures and guidelines; and Assisting in planning security for facilities and reviewing physical security floor plans, blueprints and/or drawings for offices; ensuring that imaging system software is operating correctly, user passwords are protected, and only authorized users are allowed access; and Assisting in reviewing estimates and monitoring work performed by contract installers, repair staff, technicians and suppliers. OR A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal at least 100 percent.
