This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Drive trash/garbage and box trucks Collect trash and cardboard Drive a Spin Truck to collect metal Deliver garbage and recycle cans to multiple buildings Use forklifts to load, unload, separate, carries materials, supplies and packages

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual medical surveillance thereafter.
• This position requires heavy lifting up to 40lbs.
• This position is part of the Army Drug Testing Program.
• This position requires a valid forklift operator's certification. PROOF OF LICENSE MUST BE PROVIDED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. To meet basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated below and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator (FLO) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common use of forklifts to load, unload,separate, stack, and carry materials, supplies and packages. I can operate a service truck/utility and passenger vehicle. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Includes reaching, bending turning and moving. Frequently handles objects up to 40 lbs. Moderate physical effort in such tasks as coupling and towing equipment, changing tires, operating, turning and controlling vehicles and forklifts. Subject to possible strain caused by vibration of fork lift trucks. The employee lifts, carries and handles equipment up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance. Works from ladders, scaffolding platforms, cramped areas, or confined spaces where equipment, parts, or tools are hard to reach. Work requires frequent stooping, stretching, bending, kneeling and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions for long periods. Working Conditions: The employee works indoors and outdoors, on elevated structures and in cramped areas or confined spaces. Conditions are often dirty, dusty, greasy, hot, wet or cold. Exposed to blood-borne pathogens. Subject to discomfort from face masks or other protective devices when there is a possibility of exposure to noxious gases, fumes or acids. Subject to possible burns, cuts and injury from falls. May be required to wear safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves and hard hats and other personal protective equipment. THE INCUMBENT OF THIS POSITION MAY BE WORKING IN A HAZARDOUS AREA AND, AS SUCH, MAY BE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, RECEIVE IMMUNIZATIONS, AND USE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND OTHER SPECIFIED SAFETY PROCEDURES This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid State of Maryland or equivalent Class "B" Commercial Drivers License.
