Supervisory Visual Information Specialist supervises Medical Media production staff and functions to include in-studio and on-site/off-site video production, photographic support for on-site and off-site programs, computer graphic design, reproduction services, design of publications, poster and exhibits, and other media requests. Work with public affairs to implement the strategic communication goals and is responsible for meeting service goals, as well as the goals of Orlando Medical Center.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Examines, evaluates and approves Medical Media contracting packages ensuring timely entry, accuracy, and completeness of information for contract approval.
Sets the operational goals and objectives for Medical Media Production and its components.
Examines and evaluates overall program activities to determine impact, responsiveness and efficiency.
Establishes, directs and amends policies and procedures for Medical Media Production to ensure Medical Media Production and its components are consistent with Federal, Agency and Medical Center policies.
Responsible for the acquisition, installation, use and maintenance of media related equipment, systems, and technology throughout the Medical Center.
Prepares in-depth justifications for major expenditures for equipment or facilities to improve cost effectiveness, performance quality, and timeliness of services.
Monitors purchases to ensure that cardholder/s perform purchase card reconciliations within the required timeframe and that reconciliations are done correctly.
Develops an annual fiscal plan that will ensure the meeting of the Section's mission and objectives.
Controls the use of allocated financial resources and advises management of future needs.
Evaluates developing needs and rapidly changing technology for possible improvements to existing space and equipment for maintenance of a high degree of quality service.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Statement: A one year supervisory probation period may be required for this position.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/26/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR)
Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study-Photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Or,
Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. Or,
Specialized Experience: Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Planning and preparing the use of in-studio and on-site video production, photographic support for on-site and off-site programs, computer graphic design, reproduction services, design of publications, poster and exhibits, and other media requests. Establishing and executing program goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Collecting production and utilization statistics and costs to provide quarterly and annual reporting. Developing annual fiscal plans. Applying, and adapting photography, digital photography, digital imaging, video production, graphic design, cross platform computer systems, networks, instructional design and skill, and reproduction processes. Installation, use and maintenance of media related equipment, systems, and technology. Communicating to a wide variety of individuals internal and external to the agency. Providing advice, counsel, training or instructions to employees on work and administrative matters.

Physical Requirements: Work environment in Medical Media routinely involves a heavy workload due to an expanding health care system, affiliation with a major teaching university, a significant increase in research activity, and assisting other Services in complying with criteria set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies. Medical Media personnel frequently face short or fluctuating deadlines for media products and services, a result of clinical and administrative staff attempting to care for a growing patient population coupled with their teaching/training responsibilities and other duties. The importance, frequency, and variety of work and deadlines may cause stress and requires after hours or weekend work.
