These positions are located in the Office of the Scientific Director (OSD), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Duties
Manage the programs of the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) scientific operations team and business operations team.
Lead, develop, coordinate, and implement strategic planning efforts.
Manage compliance with special regulations and program requirements.
Advise and recommend appropriate responses to data calls from internal and external agency, departmental, and federal inquires.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.

- These positions require the incumbents to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
To qualify as a Supervisory Scientific Program Specialist, GS-0601-15, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education Qualification:
You must possess a Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).
AND
Additional Qualifications:
In addition, to qualify for a Supervisory Scientific Program Specialist, GS-0601-15 position at the GS-15 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: leading, developing, and coordinating strategic planning efforts for scientific and business operations; providing scientific operations support for biomedical research laboratories and specialized containment facilities; developing and advising on policies, procedures, and requirements for the planning and conduct of intramural research programs; and coordinating and collaborating with other organization and staff on intramural research scientific and business operations.
