About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonion, Texas. Work is performed in the Business Operations Division and mainly telework from home. Employee may be required to come in and work in open office area with hours at cubicle/desk area. Employee will work 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday within the hours of 0630-1630 hrs.

Duties

Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, tracking, health care referrals for the beneficiary population, to include Active Duty, Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, Tricare for Life, and Tricare Plus, VA-eligible and MEDICARE. Serve as the focal point for the coordination of health care services through reviewing of covered benefits, conducting CHCS and DEERS eligibility checks, ensuring administrative completeness, and monitoring, maintaining and tracking of referrals. Enter in database system documentation on processing/research of each referral and status of each referral. Keep abreast of policy changes and current health care information and maintain pertinent records and files. Assist in entering referrals for the VA’s that are outside of the VA sharing agreement. Responsible for collecting, maintaining and tracking referrals using an automated External Referral Access database.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
