This position is located in the Air Traffic Organization, Technical Operations Services (AJW) Service Area Incident Command Team. Serves as a technical expert with experience and expert technical knowledge of information technology (IT) systems and services in the National Airspace System (NAS) to advance incident management principles, concepts, and procedures.

Duties

Provides guidance to lower-level staff to address diverse, complex issues impacting the aviation/transportation industry. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Works with managers, advising on the development of guidelines and standards and prepares points of view used in forecasting trends and formulating policy. Maintains situational awareness of potential threats that could cause NAS service interruptions; balancing that with existing impacts of outages, the incumbent will make real-time critical decisions in support of NAS recovery for the Service Area and the flying public. These determinations will be required when an incident exceeds the capability to recover through routine NAS Operations. Develops plans, techniques, and policies to address current or anticipated problems and issues. Works with management to jointly solve problems. Provides policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally.
