This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at the Chalmers P. Wylie Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) in the VA Central Ohio Healthcare System. This assignment is defined as the ability to provide independent and expert audiology services in the specialized area of vestibular testing and management.
Duties
Serves as clinical Audiology service provider.
Organizes clinical data systematically for effective retrieval for clinic and investigational requirements.
Responsible for analyzing problems that occur in the delivery of services, collection of related data and information, and implementing solutions and follow-up plans to assure that the actions were appropriate. These activities must be reported to the service chiefs.
Responsible for evaluation and management of vestibular and/or balance problems.
Serves as the Audiology Subject Matter Expert (SME) for vestibular testing and dedicates no less than 25% of all clinical contact to this pursuit.
Advanced vestibular evaluation of and rehabilitation principles and techniques for persons with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
Electrophysiological of vestibular function including electronystagmography, videonystagmography, tests of dynamic visual acuity, tests of postural stability and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials.
Coordinating continuing education for staff audiologists and students with regard to audiological care of patients with vestibular disorders.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education:
Doctor of Audiology (AuD) from an audiology program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). OR
Other doctoral degree in hearing science or a directly related field from an institution accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the USDE.
Licensure: incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations:
(1) Experience. At least two years of experience as a professional audiologist, with at least one year comparable to the next lower grade level.
(2) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the KSAs required at the full performance level, the following KSAs are required:
(a) Advanced knowledge in a focused area of contemporary audiology practice to provide oversight of a specialty program.
(b) Skill to evaluate the specialty program to ensure deadlines and goals are met.
(c) Skill to coordinate initiatives and build consensus among interdisciplinary team members.
