You will serve as a LEAD POLICE OFFICER in the Navy Installation Command (CNIC) of NAVBASE KITSAP SEC DET.

Duties

You will coordinate emergency response for calls concerning complaints or reports of violations. You will direct and evaluate work performed by police officers. You will administer anti-terrorism, force protection, physical security, and law enforcement services for the protection of life and property. You will conduct preliminary investigations of critical incidents (e.g., traffic accidents, domestic violence, fights, assaults, child abuse or neglect).

• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• You must complete a DoD approved Police Training Academy or equivalent course (FLETC), a federal or military police academy, or equivalent law enforcement training. Qualifications are required prior to entry date.
• You must also complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training, and OC refresher training.

Required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Navy, Region, or Local Command Standard Operating Procedures/Orders/Policies. This position is subject to shift work. Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/standard operating procedure. May be subject to being interrupted from meal and/or other work breaks while on duty. Overtime may be required. Incumbent must be available for various shifts, ranging from 8 to 12 hours. May be required to work overtime on an emergency basis. May be recalled to duty. Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer. Vision must be corrective to 20/20 plus and must be able to distinguish basic shades of color. Ability to hear both high and low frequency tones. Must successfully complete a designated Navy Police Officers Course of Instruction and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR, AED, DOD and Joint Training Regulations. You shall be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available. As first responders to chemical-biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots and gloves. You must qualify and maintain qualifications for assignment to Nuclear Fuels Security Force duties when directed for refueling and defueling (RF/DF) operations in accordance with NAVSEAINST 9210.22E. Qualifications are required prior to entry date. Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination.
