THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a GS-0335-09 COMPUTER ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2072000 in SPMD 1820 and is part of the MO HQ 140th Regiment RTI.
APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite/Permanent (may retain current tenure if on-board) Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.
Duties
Integrates and maintains the organizational automation and brigade network infrastructure.
Responsible for implementation of configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs with supported elements to include; headquarters staff elements, and subordinate organizations.
Provides detailed technical advice for long-range decision planning related to tactical network management up and down the chain of command.
Prepares briefings and presentations about the complexities of the tactical network.
Reviews and evaluates new or upgraded tactical software packages.
Serves as the organizational Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO).
Initiates appropriate measures to maintain information assurance (network security and data protection) within the organization.
Responsible for possessing and maintaining accreditation documentation on the various tactical automation systems and major network components.
Develops and maintains documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, necessary to maintain the reliability of the network.
Serves as network administrator responsible for configuring hubs and switches, monitoring network performance and installing network software/interim change packages (SCP/ICP).
Ensures the standard configuration software loads for all network devices as prescribed by higher headquarters.
Establishes procedures to maintain accurate records of authorized users of distributed software.
Develops standard operating procedures for the operation of the network. Instructs lower graded information systems operator(s) in the administration and maintenance of the installation’s network devices.
Provide input to the development of the signal annexes of the organizational operation plan (OPLAN) or operation order (OPORD).
Provides detailed information and expertise in the area of signal and tactical automation relating to the support of Homeland Security/Homeland Defense to include the development of LAN diagrams, WAN gateway connections and specifications, etc.
Establishes limited liaison outside the organization to ensure interoperability of mission support requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- If selected individual is in a Permanent status (Tenure 1 or 2) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Permanent status.
- If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
- Any other individual selected for this position will be placed into an Indefinite appointment.
- Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
- Indefinite employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, training, or education that demonstrates your ability to follow directions, procedures, or systematic work methods which gives evidence of your ability to perform this work and experience using computer and automation systems.
GS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 24 months specialized computer experience maintaining continuity of production
control; coordinating work load priorities and scheduling multiple requirements; experience applying optional methods to new or developmental requirements and provide for program dependencies and priorities; experience identifying computer requirements or techniques associated with the development and design of data processing systems. This specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability planning and programming requirements related to computer systems or applications.
Education
This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
