About the position: This position will be assigned to the Youth Center located at Barksdale AFB, LA. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with 35 guaranteed hours a week and benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave).

Duties

Maintenance Worker will be responsible for minor maintenance, custodial, yard work, and repair jobs, both indoors and outdoors. Task may include simple carpentry, minor plumbing, painting, and heavy lifting. Use of small power and hand tools, lawnmowers, and gardening tools will be required. Incumbent will also be responsible for minor vehicle maintenance, such as checking fluid levels/tire pressure and cleaning/washing vehicles. Requirements

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must have experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control and clean heavy powered equipment. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work that does not require the skill and knowledge in operating heavy equipment continually involves extreme physical effort, such as constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more. Requires reaching, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs; associated duties require stooping, bending and climbing. Must have experience and/or knowledge of methods and techniques used in painting, plumbing and minor repairs. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical, maintain current immunizations and be physically and behaviorally capable of performing the duties of the job. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC), and Installation Records Check (IRC). Physical Effort: Frequently lifts, handles and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally moves moderate to heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices including objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds. Work that does not require the skill and knowledge in operating heavy equipment continually involves extreme physical effort, such as constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more. Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable position. Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.

Education
