THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-6641-10 ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2575000 in FAC 25B000 and is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Performs Pre/Post Flight inspection and flight line return inspections. Assigns Weapon Stock Number (WSN) and records builds and teardowns of complete rounds in the accountable property system of record (APSR). Configures Munitions Material Handling Equipment (MMHE) for mission support. Validates expenditure and movement documentation for munitions reconciliation and expenditure reporting. Troubleshoots electrical systems on support equipment for fault isolation IAW electrical wiring schematics, repairs/replaces as required. Manages allocations, stock levels, inventories, requisitions, and disposition of munitions. Validates, maintains, and provides security of accountable/auditable records. Establishes and maintains the munitions inspection program; approves marking, packaging, and seals; shelf and service life monitoring program; and certifies munitions residue for all munitions assets. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
  • Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.
  • Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirements and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission.
  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6) Minimum Military Grade - A1C (E-3) Enlisted - AFSC 2WXXX Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided you with the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to perform maintenance on assigned missiles; operate, repair, maintain and calibrate missile test equipment; and store, handle and perform intermediate level maintenance on munitions systems. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to diagnose malfunctions and determine repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components; use of precision measurement equipment; and interpret and apply a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials. Must currently possess or have held AFSC 2W0XX.
