The incumbent in this position is organizationally under the PCMHI Section Chief within the Mental Health Service (MHS) at the Robley Rex VAMC. This position will be responsible for the Primary Care - Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) clinical staff including Social Workers and Psychologists as delegated by the PCMHI Section Chief.

Supervises duties for Psychologists and Social Workers embedded within 8 CBOC PACT clinics. Direct supervisees may be modified to meet the needs of the program.
Completes structured diagnostic and clinical assessments for participants.
Reviews assessments completed by others, and obtain missing information from providers, patients, and medical records.
Completes telephone and/or face to face risk assessments for Veterans who have screened positive on BHL interviews conducted by the call center Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs).
Creates and maintains forms, surveys, instruments, and materials for proper coordination of the different treatment modules available through the PCMHI.
Provides psycho-education and direct advice regarding symptoms of depression, anxiety and alcohol misuse to patients. This includes the development of an appropriate treatment plan for patients and the ability to communicate that plan to the patient's provider.
Provides consultation to Primary Care providers, other Mental Health therapists , and team members in the development of individual treatment plans.
Communicates performance evaluations & recommendations to PCMHI team members.
Develops community resources & coordinates these resources in the interest of the Veteran & their family.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education: Applicants must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.
NOTE: A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
Licensure: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
A valid U.S. driver's license with no restrictions.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Supervisory social workers at the GS-13 grade level typically supervise professional and non-professional staff. They are responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care/product line, or across multiple sites, (e.g., multi-division facilities and CBOCs). Incumbent may also provide direct clinical services.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Skill in providing the full range of supervisory duties across multiple service divisions/sections, which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed, performance evaluation, selection of staff, and recommendations of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary actions.
(b) Skill in applying legal, ethical, and professional standards to social work practice.
(c) Skill in developing, maintaining, and managing social work services in multiple divisions/sections.
(d) Ability to ensure compliance with social work practice, policy, and accreditation standards across the continuum of health care.
(e) Skill in providing consultation to facility leadership, managers, and other staff on social work qualification standards, practice, competency, productivity, and continuing education requirements.
(f) Skill in administrative oversight to ensure compliance with social work licensure requirements.
Preferred Experience: Previous supervisory experience.
