You will serve as a SUPERVISORY IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Joint Mission Operations Center ofU S MARINE FORCES CYBERSPACE COMMAND.

Duties

You will serve as a training officer within the defensive cyber operations (DCO) section and are responsible for ensuring personnel are organized, trained, and equipped in accordance with operational needs. You will serve as the escalation point for a wide array of technical matters that arise in the security operations center (SOC). You will provide administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must possess and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance and must obtain and maintain NSA badging for NIPR/SIPR/NSANet accounts.
  • A Counterintelligence Polygraph is required, and a non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Failure to retain this level of security clearance and access will be grounds for reassignment, demotion, or removal from the Federal Service
  • The incumbent shall participate in the Drug Testing Program (DTP). Employees must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform occasional travel (25% or less), which may involve commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is not telework eligible.
  • This position may require shift work, weekend, holiday work, overtime, and irregular hours.
  • This position is designated as a Mission Essential (ME) position.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures, playbooks, technical documentation, and workflows, as well as ensuring communication plans are established, maintained, and modified as required. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include assisting in solving personnel and technical matters within the Security Operation Center (SOC). 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include providing administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include identifying technical gaps throughout the Security Operations (SOC) and providing courses of action for increasing the overall knowledge and operational effectiveness of the SOC. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by overseeing the implementation of operational, security, and personnel related guidance; managing host and network analysis, detection engineering, threat hunting, cyber threat intelligence, and infrastructure operations and maintenance; and supervising a group of employees.
