This position is located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) with the incumbent serving as a Database Manager. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions, and the integration of VHA and industry best practices.
Duties
Monitors claims transmission from agency to payers.
Identifies trends, patterns, deviations, errors and other activity.
Serves as Liaison with IRM, OI and/or contractors for the receipt, implementation, and troubleshooting of software patches.
Controls, reviews and evaluates system error reports.
Maintains a log of error reports, sources, corrective action taken and time lines.
Establishes deadlines for error correction.
Ensures that corrective actions are executed within established policies and schedules.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/22/2023.
GS-07 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Maintains control of and reports on software 'patch' implementation.
2) Prepares correspondence, reports, memorandum or other written products concerning a wide range of issues surrounding billing and/or collection activities.
3) Maintains a log of error reports, sources, corrective action taken and time lines.
4) Identifies trends, patterns, deviations, errors and other activity.
5) Provides the customer with consistent information.
GS-09 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Controls, reviews and evaluates system error reports.
2) Ensures that corrective actions are executed within established policies and schedules.
3) Develops and presents reports of patterns and trends by carrier, organization or provider.
4) Maintains control of and reports on software 'patch' implementation.
5) Creates and maintains database files needed to monitor and report on wide range of system related activities.

GS-09: Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort.
