You will serve as a Ship Superintendent in the Repair Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
Duties
You will direct and ensure the success of the ship maintenance availability by direct liaison with all levels of Trident Refit Facility Bangor (TRFB) management.
You will be responsible for the planning, execution, conduct and assessment of all maintenance availabilities and modernizations of TRIDENT class submarines at TRFB, as well as coordinating services and repairs provided by TRFB to any visiting unit.
You will be responsible for the effectiveness of maintenance projects in terms of quality, timeliness of completion, and coordination and integration of products and services provided by the TRFB, alteration installation teams, and contractors.
You will Identify and resolve problems that represent a risk to the project in terms of end cost, quality, schedule, safety, and performance.
You will make on-the-spot adjustments to repair priorities necessitated by growth work or fleet schedule changes.
You will provide training on refit management, preparation, and lessons learned to each submarine crew.
You will coordinate with shop general foremen to develop timelines for, and sequence, critical path and controlling path maintenance.
You will de-conflict resource shortfalls and account for overall TRFB shop loading through coordination with other Ship Superintendents.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Must qualify as a Ship Superintendent as outlined in REPDEPTINST 3120.1, enclosure 1 within
180 days of placement in position.
- Must qualify as limited radiation, “J” worker.
- Must be able to meet medical screening requirements for O26 submarine rider qualification.
Qualifications
For the GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, developing, implementing and organizing submarine repair and maintenance projects; identifying and eliminating the inefficient utilization of project resources (e.g. manpower, equipment, materials); and developing strategies for resolving production delays and project scheduling conflicts
For the GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and implementing the organization of submarine repair and maintenance projects; identifying inefficient utilization of project resources (e.g. manpower, equipment, materials); and recommending strategies for resolving production delays and project scheduling conflicts.
