The Division of Market Oversight (DMO) supports the CFTC's mission to promote the integrity, resilience, and vibrancy of the U.S. derivatives markets through sound regulation. The Division regulates derivative contract markets in the trading of futures, options and swaps and swap execution facilities in the trading of swaps. 

Duties

This position serves as an Associate Director in the Market Review Branch (MRB) under The Division of Market Oversight (DMO), is responsible for the regulation and oversight of the commodity futures, options on futures, and swaps marketplaces.  The Market Review Branch is responsible for reviewing applications for contract market designation (DCM) and swap execution facility (SEF) registration to ensure compliance with statutory core principles, and the Commission’s regulations and policies.

Qualifications

To qualify at each grade level, you must have the following:. CT-15: You must have a J.D. Degree and/or LLM equivalent, bar membership and five years of relevant of legal practice experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of a legal position. Relevant experience is defined as an attorney, law clerk, or other legal experience which was obtained subsequent to graduation from law school. Qualifying experience may include: Experience in managing/leading a team of attorneys and other legal professionals. Experience in developing or interpreting regulations, no-action letters, and policy statements related to the Commodity Exchange Act. Knowledge of derivatives markets, including futures, options, and swap markets. Knowledge of commodities or related law and regulations, financial markets, corporate law, and general administrative law.

Education

Successful completion of a full course of study (J.D.) or LLM in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
