You will serve as a STUDENT TRAINEE (GENERAL ENGINEERING/ENGINEERING AID/TECHNICIAN) in the Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning, and Procurement Division of SUBMEPP ACTIVITY.
This announcement uses the Post-Secondary Students and Recent Graduates direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will provide support services to assist engineers with obtaining necessary technical and administrative information.
You will conduct research, obtain supporting documentation, and interface vendors to obtain technical data, and related short and long-term projects.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-04 Level: You must have successfully completed two full years of post-high school academic study, or an associate's degree or anticipate such completion by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-03 Level: You must have successfully completed one full year of post-high school academic study or anticipate such completion by the closing date of this announcement.

Education
Program Requirements:
Students must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program at an institution of higher education as defined in 20 U.S.C. § 1001. A full-time academic program is defined by the individual institution. Students must have completed at least one full year of their academic program prior to appointment. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and making satisfactory progress towards the receipt of a bachelor's or graduate degree. At the time of application, students must provide proof of full-time academic enrollment and academic standing as well as a copy of their transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
Prior to the start date, the student must provide an official set of school transcripts. Individuals must meet the qualifications and eligibility requirements throughout the duration of the appointment and are required to provide up-to-date transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) at the end of each trimester, semester, or quarter, which include grades for the previous term, unless requested more frequently by the supervisor or HR office for verification of enrollment and academic standing as proof of continued eligibility for participation in the program. Students who fail to meet and maintain eligibility requirements may result in termination.
The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree or higher with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding two-grade interval positions.
