About the Position: This position supports the Director for Quality, Office of the Chief at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD.
This temporary appointment is intended to not exceed 12/31/2023 upon which will be converted to a permanent position.
Duties
Consult, coordinate, and facilitate improvement initiatives utilizing process improvement methodologies in order to maintain processes that constantly meet or exceed accreditation requirements.
Facilitate the identification and development of standards of practice and service that are customer focused and fiscally sound.
Use information management systems for monitoring inputs, processes, and outcomes in patient care.
Design tools for ongoing self-evaluation against nationally recognized standards.
Develop metrics, data collection methodology, data analysis, synthesis, and reports utilizing statistically valid methods and provides graphical displays of data that result in process and system analyses.
Provide continuous accreditation consultation, assisting in implementing performance improvement systems, and serves as an advocate for the Joint Commission
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 6 months by a current permanent DHA employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or change to lower grades may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 6 months if a candidate is not a current permanent DHA employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with evaluating an organization's compliance against accreditation and/or regulatory standards and guidelines; assisting with coordinating program improvement initiatives; and assisting with data collection for process and system analyses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
