You will serve as an Equipment Specialist (Electronic) in the NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will collaborate with the Physical Oceanography Support Branch Head. You will participate on committees and technical panels to develop plans and procedures for the acquisition, development and support equipment. You will manage the pre-deployment/deployment/installation/replacement/retrieval of systems on NAVOCEANO vessels, NAVY vessels and boats of opportunity worldwide. You will issue notices to activities of major modifications to maintenance procedures. You will act as project coordinator for designated hydrographic/oceanographic equipment acquisitions. You will perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

For GS 09- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: : - Experience writing reports on all repaired equipment. - Experience briefing Branch Head and Department Director. - Experience identifying and analyzing problems. - Experience managing plans, schedules and inventory controls. For GS 07 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience writing reports on all repaired equipment. - Experience identifying and analyzing problems. - Experience managing inventory controls. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For GS-09:

1 full year of Graduate level education

or

Superior Academic Achievement

For GS-07:


master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher-level Graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
