About the Position: Serves as the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Field Office Assistant Special Agent-In-Charge (ASAC). The employee is delegated authority for all investigations and operations conducted by CID offices within their area of responsibility (AOR). This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Through consultation with the Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) establishes the basic long-term investigative objectives of the assigned area of responsibility. Provide uniform interpretation and application of laws, orders, rules, and regulations pertaining to general crimes. Collaborate with other field office supervisors and managers, headquarters staff and various federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies to negotiate, decide on, and coordinate work-related changes affecting related investigations. Plan, prepare, coordinate, and present briefings to high-ranking DA and DoD management officials. Supervise, manage and direct operational activities of assigned personnel to enable them to successfully conduct investigations and operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Must agree in writing to comply with management-directed permanent change of station (PCS) movement to meet mission requirements. Must sign a mobility agreement if selected.
  • This position may require travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment, must maintain license while employed in the position, and will be required to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Position requires access to classified material will be required to complete a SF-312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position is considered Emergency Essential.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, developing, and coordinating criminal investigations, planning and directing investigative support operations and providing investigative guidance to subordinate criminal investigators. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-13. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Performance of above duties requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that the incumbent may perform the duties satisfactorily. Incumbent must possess sufficiently good vision, with or without glasses, in each eye, in order that they may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for reading of printed materials the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear conversational voices and whispered speech is required. Any hearing impairment may be compensated for by use of a hearing aid. Since the duties of the position are exacting, responsible, and involve work performed under arduous and dangerous conditions, you must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others, will disqualify him/her.
